The basic reason is that no one who understands well how ftp and
news works has been working on the DOS port. The WATTCP code, at
least, supports ftp, since Erick Engelke's ftp07 program has been
successfully compiled with it under DJGPP. At least three people have
worked on this without success. Probably Wayne Buttles spent the most
effort on this, but didn't get a working program. Do you know a ftp
guru who has an interest in DOS and lynx? A volunteer is needed.
