By the way, according the the copyright FAQs (Myths by Brad Templeton and
Copyright Law FAQ by Terry Carroll), the character sequence "(c)" has 
never been officially accepted as a substitute for the standard copyright
symbol of circle-c (©).

In the U.S., the word "Copyright", which is already present, is sufficient.
For International law, the Berne convention says we don't even need it 
copyright.

Granted, it's probably not worth it to remove it, but on the otherhand, 
do we want to encourage others to use "(c)" by setting a poor example?
