I could have done without downloading nearly half a megabyte when a
simple statement that there are a large number of errors, and a pointer
to validator.w3.org, possibly with a summary of the general nature of the
errors, would have done. I pay for connect time to my telephone company.

However the errors are typical GUI user errors, representing a failure
to understand that HTML is not a page description language. If the author
doesn't like the built in styles for headings, they have two reasonable
choices:

- submit a patch to change those styles to ones they think are better (and
  then argue their case);

- add CSS style sheet support to allow authors to select their own
  styles.

If they think that the format is important, they should also use a style
sheet for the benefit of users of IE3+ and NS4+, so as to mimic their
ideal Lynx style.
