the easy way round your problem(s) is to enter  E ,
which will offer the current link's URL, which should be  mailto: ;
you then get a screen which asks you to specify a subject & CCs,
before calling up the editor of your choice.

be sure you are using the latest Lynx 2-8-2
from  www.slcc.edu/lynx/release/ .
