lynx-dev File input

I just downloaded lynx-2.8.3 and attempted to use the new
file input capability.  How do I enter the file name ?
When I navigate to the file input field, the status message
says to enter the filename, but any char's I type get interpreted
as commands.  Am I missing something ?
