at least this line looks strange and never reproduced on my side:
`&#174;' is not recognized by some means in SGML.c
(negative error code (-3) was reported by UCTrans...()).
Probably your binary is broken a little :)
could you rebuild "make clean".
Yet another idea - to try 8 bit display charset, not CJK.
