As to why use them - because since these are web based mail accounts, one
can have email without having to have an ISP. In my own case, I want an
email account where the email doesn't sit on my employer's disk drives...
As to compression - I don't have any idea. I've never had to do anything
relating to compression when reading the mail from yahoo. I assume that
once they have fixed their web servers (which are having problems regardless
of the web browser today), that if I do a lynx trace when going to read a
message I can tell about how the msgs are handled?
