yes: 2-8-3dev.14 does the same thing: from LYNXMESSAGES:
1. Alert!: Unsupported URL scheme!
2. Alert!: Unsupported URL scheme!
3. Alert!: Error uncompressing temporary file!
4. /usr/local/bin/gunzip /homes/purslow/tmp/L4022-4TMP.html.Z

and so is this.
apparently, there is no way to stop Lynx autogunzipping such files:
i looked for `unzip' in lynx.cfg userdefs.h --configswitches
& find no option mentioned. that's bad behaviour.
something to fix before 2-8-3pre.anything.

all the more incentive for Lynx to do better!
