lynx-dev address@hidden: Re: perlmonth-bug makes LYNX unusable at www.pe

Here is a reply from the site, claiming that LYNX works just
fine on the www.perlmonth.com site.

BULL!

Maybe HIS version of lynx does, but not mine!

(which is: Lynx 2.8.3dev.18 (06 Jan 2000) )

I posted my pbm about this site a few days ago,
and got a reply that I had to by hand hack the
address, changing by hand the "issue" number.

Can anyone figure out just what the problem IS
at this place?

What can we TELL them to change?

(do test the site, esp if you use perl (you might
find some interesting articles there, so it will
be worth your while, not just for lynx))

Thanks!

David

The site looks just fine in lynx, occasionaly you see the perl code all
unwrapped in one line. I produce my htmls with pod2html, creating the
sources in POD. And it generates a perfect layout for both graphical and
text mode browsers.

I've checked a few:
http://perlmonth.com/columns/perl_apache/perl_apache.html?issue=9
(mine is fine)

http://perlmonth.com/columns/mac_perl/mac_perl.html?issue=9
is crewed up a bit (in perl code snippets) because, lynx incorrectly
interpret the:
<PRE><BLOCKQUOTE><P>code here</BLOCKQUOTE></PRE>

however
<BLOCKQUOTE><PRE>code here</PRE></BLOCKQUOTE>
should be fine

I didn't check the rest of the articles, but I think your woe is about
code wrapping issues. The rest of the layout which is supplied by the site
owner looks perfect in lynx.

Just make sure that your put <PRE></PRE> around the code, and you are all
set. Almost NO other tags is allowed by HTML spec within <PRE></PRE>.
