Not clear what the group is here.  Do you mean lynx-dev, the
part of the W3C consortium that is developing SVG, or the people who
contribute to the SVG mailing list?

W3C is a private consortium, so you will never know what they really
think, although one can make guesses from the fact that Adobe and
Microsoft are prime contributors in this area.

Most of those asking on the list seem to be people planning to design
glossy sites in the future.

Unlike www-html, where the regulars are much in sympathy with
accessibility but most of the questions are off topic++ and unsypathetic
(recent question was which significant browsers don't suport frames and
javascript - Lynx being considered not significant), I don't sense any
great sympathy to accessibility on the SVG list.

++ browser implemenation behaviour and features which are the province of
style sheets, not HTML.  The list is supposed to be about the design of
the language itself.
