Thanks.  But here I go again.  I'm attaching a patch that brings
config.guess and config.sub into complete agreement with the GNU
versions on ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/config/ (a couple hours ago :-)
and makes the induced accommodation in configure.in.

You might prudently distrust me and grab the config.* sources
direct from gnu.  (I'll never know unless I screwed up.  :-)
