Thank you for reminding me about the lines and cols variables.  I
don't know how I missed them; I probably assumed they wouldn't work
in Windows.  I learned that they do work with Jim Spath's 2.8.3
release binary.  But I also learned that setting a width greater than
80 completely confuses my DOS screen reader, because it's looking in
a particular region of RAM for the contents of the console buffer,
and loses track of it when it exceeds the standard width of 80
characters.  This isn't really Lynx's problem.  But it looks like, if
I want to run the console version of Lynx in Windows, I'll need to
make sure it doesn't start up a nonstandard screen.  Meanwhile, if I
need to look at some wide output, I can continue to run Lynx -dump
-crawl -width=100 to get wider columns for inspection in a Windows
program.
