my principal daily use of Lynx is to read news stories,
which are often accompanied by photos,
whose URLs may be buried in HTML which is not always handled ideally by Lynx.
an example is appended below, taken (shortened) from today's Toronto Star.
the rendered version appears as:

-- start --
                Alliance spies pose as enemy Taliban soldiers

                                Kevin Donovan
                                STAFF REPORTER

[1][spacedesc=news3_ad_window?GXHC_ias_has_been_authenticated=&GXHC_GX_sst=&GX
                                          HC_gx_session_id_=c1195a136b0fbe7a]
                                              Sion Touhig for the Toronto Star
PLAYING SIDES: A Northern Alliance soldier stands guard near the garrison town
                                           of Walwolij, Afghanistan yesterday.
                                              RELATED LINKS
-- end --

hidden in the HTML is the URL for a photo,
which can be accessed by entering (in turn) \ /jp Enter
(assuming pretty-source & that  .jpg  calls up  xv );
however, the offered link [1] does not lead anywhere useful.
apart from pedantry inherited from the Age of Giants,
why does Lynx not present the content of <IMG SRC="..."> as a link?
the image would then be accessible directly from the document.
any hope someone might be able to add this to dev.5 ? TD ?
(yes, i have `Verbose images' set to `show filename')
