lynx-dev mime types

Is there a way to make lynx look deeper into the file format of a file?
It thinks that  MICROSOFT PCM format is the same
as WAVE RIF MONO.   Probably because both files typically have the .wav 
extension and  lynx thinks they are both audio/x-wav mime type.
