I would not be surprised if the accents have been encoded incorrectly,
as I attempted several years ago to create a French message file from
texts that were used in a divergent Lynx distribution (used in Canada).
As I can't read French, it was a noble attempt, but not something that
was guaranteed correct.

The best thing to do is work with the translation project to have your
changes done in the right way and sent to the right person. We use that
project to coordinate the translators, then take their catalogs and
distribute them with the Lynx files.
