what's so severe about (strict (SortaSGML mode)):
   Warp 3  XR_W003
   8.209  ...Note 3

or (relaxed (TagSoup mode)):
   Warp 3 XR_W003 8.209 ...Note 3

I think perhaps you want to set your O)ptions to the latter, TagSoup mode.
