Not only do you mention good reasons for "still using lynx" but also, I've had
"broadband" (+100K down) since 99, and I find lynx is still indispensible:
1. it's still faster (reduce ALERT timing!)
2. if you work in a shell it's the best maintained user-agent by far IMHO
and lets you google fastest for info - better productivity
3. it is a superb download manager
4. with a proper cryptographic filesystem you can secure access to your
   bookmarks and cookies
5. its server certificate handling with the *nix system is excellent
6. many users prefer a .cfg file for settings
7. it's an excellent way to teach many important *nix fundamentals
8. the increasing pollution of scripted advertising is bypassed (see many
   major media sites)
9. the absence of javascript support is becoming a plus IMHO
10. the lynx-dev list is one of the most interesting :)

lynx to me is one of the core *nix apps; the presence of an up to date version
on a system is important, just like pine or gcc or vi. There is no
substitute. Lynx is an original treasure and a real gift to us all.
