You will need to install the certificate into your system to have it connect 
without prompting (see README.sslcerts). Does it connect to the target server 
interactively?

There was an improvement to file upload between 2.8.5dev.7 and 2.8.6dev.11 
which I investigated a few months ago; I don't know if it is in 2.8.5 release.

You need to establish the ssl connection before going further.
