OK, and to remind you what I found:  I don't need your patch to solve my
color problem.  When I downloaded source code, in order to apply your
patch, I found out that even before applying your patch, my problem was
gone.  It exists in my 2.8.5dev.8, but not the 2.8.5rel.1 I built.

Either the problem had already been fixed, or there was something
different about the way I built Lynx this time.

(I applied your patch anyway, because I'm sure it fixes something).
