Yes, I know. (In fact, I disassembled and patched a large part of
the DOS kernel… anyway, I was referring to standards in general.)

Yes, but your mails came over in a way (at least to me) that were
somewhat disturbing. No offence intended, this is merely feedback.
I read somewhat diagonally too but keep the whole thing in mind.

I think there is no such thing as locales on either DOS or Win32.
Heck, even OpenBSD anno 2010 doesn’t have them.

No, just different. You may have luck convincing Lynx to use cp1252
(true superset of latin1) though, but it might miss line drawing
characters, which are required, then. This is probably an issue of
the curses library used though, not of Lynx.

An alternative is to install http://www.microsoft.com/windows/sfu/
(Interix, SFU/SUA) and run Lynx inside an xterm (or even uxterm),
for which you’ll need something like Starnet X-Win32 though.
