It's a "Beta" project; the ftp daemon is betaftpd ...

$ ftp ftp.slackware.no
Connected to ftp.slackware.no.
220 BetaFTPD 0.0.8pre18 ready.
Name (ftp.slackware.no:stef): ftp
331 Login OK, send password (your e-mail).

A quick google for "betaftpd lynx" shows the home page of the project
acknowledges problems working with lynx and IE, and efforts at further
RFC959 compliance.

Solution would appear to be to report to the betaftpd project (or wait
for a release ;)
