The October snapshot adds package scripts (Debian and RPM), since
that's what I've been doing this year.  Outside of packaging, not
much change.  Once I switched to packaging, there wasn't much point
in supplying a diff anymore.

I could make yet-another-resync patch for 2.6x, but haven't seen that
they improve anything (aside from the version-matching with automake ;-)
