Alas, that just shows my lack of time to devote to m4 to synchronize the
other two branches and cut the 1.6 release.  Maintenance mode sure seems
to be easier than development mode.  :(

At any rate, thanks again, and I've pushed this patch after adding a
ChangeLog entry (yet another thing where m4 hasn't caught up to the new
method of generating the ChangeLog from git).
