I would prefer that proposals for new features, especially new
user-visible features, be discussed on the help-make or bug-make lists,
and the details, etc. can be hashed out there.
The make-alpha list is really for discussing coding details of
functionality we already have, porting/portability, pretests, etc. It's
traditionally been very low-volume and really geared towards people who
want to test new versions of make.
Any user-visible change should be discussed on these other lists, where
there is a larger audience of people who might be interested/affected by
them.
