Hi,
slightly OT, but solves the problem aswell. I like to use cronolog.
http://cronolog.org/ that is and 1.7.0-beta runs rockstable on production
systems here for quite a while.
Also does a more "precise" rotation than e.g. logrotate, doesn't need
apache to be restarted and easens
my logparsing a little.

Hi,
it should be sufficient to use 'apachectl graceful' in logrotate instead
of restart.
Using 'graceful' (SIGUSR1) the apache master process keeps running with
the same PID and just reloads the configuration, check files and
gracefully restarts workers (waiting for their work to finish).
