Probably. BTW I will take responsibility for implementing this.
I'd be willing to write a patch to support
mysql query tests compared against a regex. That could be
particularly
powerful against queries like 'show status'.
Appreciated, although a) this does not sound trivial and b) monit
should not link against the libmysqlclient library, so you must
implement the communication directly. The rationale is to avoid that
monit depends on X numbers of external libraries). It would be
elegant to get the solution you describe but it is far simpler to run
mysql, postgres or foobar clients from the command-line using monit's
script execution (when it is ready. In the meantime, using the PHP
test described by Paul M. later in the thread sounds like a good
workaround in my book.
