You can use the 'every' statement to skip few cycles and provide the pppd anough time for recovery. Another option could be to use locks/flags in the start method to prevent concurrent instances.

Greetings all,

How can I get monit to not spawn another instance of the start program if there is already one running?

The reason I ask is that sometimes it can take a couple of seconds to a minute to connect my pppd device.

<config>

     1 check process pppd with pidfile /var/run/ppp0.pid

     2     group ppp

     3     start program = "/usr/bin/pon dsl-provider"

     4     stop program = "/usr/bin/killall -9 pppd"

</config>

Thank you,
