If there is short 100% usage which you aren't interested for, then you could use the event rate to make alert just when the cpu utilization keeps 100% for example for two consecutive cycles.

Hi,

I often do a "monit unmonitor all", do system updates etc, then "monit monitor all". Sometimes it so happens that right after that I get a message saying cpu user usage is at 100% and in succession on the same second that the resource has passed.

Maybe there really is this load for a brief moment and caused by monit monitor all itself, but that should clearly not trigger an alert.

Running 4.9, have encountered this issue several times, but surely not always.

Example:

---
Monit alert host.domain at Tue, 22 May 2007 18:22:33 +0300 on host

'host.domain' cpu user usage of 100.0% matches resource limit [cpu user usage>95.0%]
---

and

---
Monit alert host.domain at Tue, 22 May 2007 18:22:33 +0300 on host

  'host.domain' resource passed
