monit: instead of timeout after restart failures, can I have it alert?

I have this in my config:
 
if 3 restarts within 5 cycles then timeout


But I really want to do this:
 
if 3 restarts within 5 cycles then alert

But the monit program doesn't like the syntax. Anyone know a workaround?
