Interestingly the problem has now disappeared in my working trees, presumably with the 
arrival of some more versions after pulling from graydon's db earlier this evening. I 
haven't rebuilt my monotone executable so it seems to be related to the state of the database.

I was wondering if it might be caused if I was working on something that later forked and 
then was eventually merged back into one head before I update. If my working version is 
based on a version that has more than one path to the head, which path to the head would 
an update take?

Graydon can you shed any light on this?
