That's not the effect of rosters that you're seeing, but just a fresh pull
of the database,. A modern version of monotone helps too--there have been
some fixes to make sure we use deltas in a few cases where we weren't
previously.
Note the size of my monotone repositories below. The first is my original
db that I've been using since I pulled it using 0.17/0.18. The second is a
fresh pull with 0.25. The third is a fresh pull with 0.26pre1.
