thanks for this response and forgive me for answering not earlier (the
email just slipped through somehow). Don't bother with this problem; I
remember that we had some charset problems when converting file systems
from Windows to Linux back in the time the database was created -- and
it's probably entirely our fault. Anyway, thanks for the hint!
