Ahhhh... I see: the output is _NOT_ empty. The problem is that the
attribute was on the root directory (specified via "mtn attr set . xxx
yyy") but Monotone still outputs the root directory as just an empty
string!! This output of the root directory as an empty string might be
correct strictly speaking, but it already is confusing on "mtn stat" and
similar outputs. But here is a maximum confusing as certainly everyone
thinks there are no paths at all.

Can't we change Monotone to consistently output the root directory as
"." when it is output in a stand-alone fa hion?
