question about `inc'

Hello,

I am trying to use the command `inc' to fetch my new email from Gmail.
Unfortunately, it brigns ALL mail there, not just my unread mail.  

The command I am using is

   inc -host pop.gmail.com -port 995 -user rsorkin@perimeterinstitute.ca 
-initialtls

(the last bit "-initialtls" I just copied from some website to deal with an 
error message I was getting)

Is there some way to tell `inc' to bring only the unread mail on the Gmail 
server?
