Update of bug #55306 (project octave): Status: Ready For Test => Confirmed Release: 5.0.0 => dev Summary: non-english typing in the editor don't appear but still there hidden causing error => Bi-directional text not displayed correctly (or hidden) in the file editor _______________________________________________________ Follow-up Comment #13: Re-reading the original report, I am not sure that all issues are fixed. While with the applied changes the user should now see a meaningful error message (i.e. that some characters can't be correctly encoded), the user would still have a hard time finding these characters because they aren't displayed in the editor. I could re-produce this issue on Ubuntu and Windows by pasting any Arabic characters from [1] at the start of a line. The characters display but overlay if they are pasted at the end of a line. Still think [2] is relevant. Re-titling for the remaining issue.
