Follow-up Comment #3, bug #55681 (project octave): I added a change that moves startup.m and finish.m directly into the interpreter where other init files are loaded https://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/f51e8a7c33f4 There was still the problem that --no-site-file would also skip loading the user's startup.m or finish.m.
