Follow-up Comment #11, bug #56143 (project octave):

Can't do this, apparently.
$ octave --gui --no-line-editing
error: --gui and --no-line-editing are mutually exclusive options
The hang never occurs in the CLI as far as I can tell, only in the GUI, so
it's not meaningful to test it without --gui here.
