Follow-up Comment #5, bug #56187 (project octave):

Yeah, I'm not sure that trying to detect the format of the file and update the
parsing rules based on that is a good thing to do at all.

I'd be curious to know what Matlab does with a script file that contains more
code after local function definitions. Is it a parse error, silently ignored,
something else?
