Follow-up Comment #18, bug#64999 (group octave):

I confirm that using -DENABLE_BYTERANGE=OFF when building the netcdf library
on Debian makes the crash disappear.

I would be willing to report this bug to the upstream authors of netcdf, in
the case we can find a minimal code that produces the crash.
