Follow-up Comment #2, bug#65205 (group octave):

I still had some old MXE builds lying around on my disc. The oldest is from
May 6 2023. With that, the zoom area is already missing.
So, it's probably a regression from an earlier change. (In case, that helps to
find where it broke.)
