Hi all!
Well, I disabled the MIDI IRQ in au88x0_mpu401.c and now it doesn't
crash. But snooping around leads me to believe that the MIDI IRQ crash
is the symptom of a much larger problem. Here's what cat
/proc/asound/oss/sndstat gives me:
Sound Driver:3.8.1a-980706 (ALSA v0.9.2 emulation code)
Kernel: Linux blackbird.underground-software.com 2.4.19-gentoo-r10 #1
Tue Apr 22 14:54:34 PDT 2003 i686
Config options: 0
Installed drivers:
Type 10: ALSA emulation
Card config:
au8830 at 0xed000000 irq 11
Audio devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG
Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG
Midi devices:
0: MPU-401 (UART) 0-0
Timers:
7: system timer
Mixers: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG
It seems that *none* of the OSS emulation layer is working for some
reason--not just the MIDI portion (called through
snd_mpu401_uart_interrupt(...)). Yes, I set up the aliases correctly
in modules.conf, but nothing changes in the sndstat listing, even
after logging out and back in.
So, do you guys (for whom this driver is working) get the "NOT ENABLED
IN CONFIG" lines for audio/synth/mixer devices in sndstat? Are using
using devfs?
