Tried that, and adding -lgsl makes the line run without any errors, but rerunning make gives the same problem. Anyway, I got it to compile using gcc4.4 and I'm not too comfortable with libtool and friends to go too deep down that road, so I'm happy for now I suppose I also found that removing the 2 calls to 'gsl_set_error_handler_off' (in src/ui/gui/psppire.c and src/ui/terminal/main.c) makes the problem go away, but I'm not sure whether that is a smart thing to do.
