This is preceded by a large number or [Erron 2]... but instead of
ignoring them and continuing, rdiff keeps dying eventually.

Interesting error, thanks. Can you run rdiff-backup with -v5 and send
more of the logs? (perhaps just the "OmniFocus Backups" directory if
you want to keep things small).
Rdiff-backup is trying to propagate a WindowsError back to the Mac
side, but this fails because the Mac doesn't understand Windows
errors. I'd like to determine where in the Windows code it is failing
so I can catch the error there.
Also, which version of rdiff-backup are you using?
