Hi,
My name is Atakan Gurkan. I am a graduate student of physics at Northwestern
University, Evanston, Illinois, USA. I am from Turkey, which although is not
a terribly underdeveloped country, due to imbalances in resource distribution,
would benefit highly from a project such as RULE. I heard about this project
at Slashdot, and would like to contribute. I thought, I would tell everyone
a little bit about myself.
I have a long and nice experience with Linux, both as a user and a system
administrator. I had started with Slackware, but for last few years I have been
using RedHat. Being a theoretical physicist, I have experience with C and shell
programming. Most of my experience is with numerics, but I am a quick learner.
I am trying to teach myself python nowadays. I am also quite familiar with
TeX/LaTeX environment.
Although the machine in my office is a high end pentium4, I have a somewhat
lesser capable 133Mhz pentium classic with 64MB of RAM at home. I use it to
play games, and make very simple computing. I guess I can use it as a testbed
for RULE or components of RULE. But, I understand this project has no lower
limit on resources.
I cannot spend a lot of time on this project. I think I can afford a couple of
hours every week or so. I never participated in a project like this before,
I hope for the best.
cheers,
atakan
