Wim Van Boven <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: PicNic
System name: picnic
Type: non-GNU

Description:
I would like to register the PicNic project at savannahs. PicNic is programming
software for microchip microprocessors and most parallel port hardware
programmers. PicNic is written in C and is currently available for linux, a
windows port is expected, but it will require a kernel hack to use direct
connection to the parallel port.
PicNic supports newer versions of hardware and the newer types of
microprocessors, the current sourcecode can be found here:
http://tuks.pointclark.net:8080/files/picnic-0.1.tgz

Medium term goals are the creation of a codebase with examples for microchip
processors and detailed information on how to use your programming hardware
with linux.

Long term goals are the creation of an IDE for programming pic's in assembler
and a simple simulator for the most common processor types, which will probably
be created using GTK2.

PicNic is created by students and is released under the terms of the Gnu
General Public License. The lack of a project in active development such as
PicNic for linux and the lack of a free solution for windows, made us decide to
start hacking ourselves.
