Current running program and directory in window title.

I've googled around and the closest thing that I've found is
export PS1="\ek\e\\> "
to display the current program, but when I try to append the working
directory "\ek\w\e\\> "
the current program doesn't appear anymore.
Does anyone know the proper way to display them ie.
vi - /mnt/sda1/devel
when I'm eding app.cpp inside /mnt/sda1/devel
