Well, you could use "caption string" to display the first part and
"hardstatus string" to display the second part of the output, like
this:
caption always
caption string "%{Bk}%-w%{kB}%n %t%{-}%+w      %="
hardstatus string "| %0c | %Y-%m-%d "
