The build on my web site will NOT run Java on Panther.
Hopefully, we will have a better build soon.

Bill would have to comment on the details of that build, but one
problem is that Panther loader works is different than with Jaguar.
Without interleaving a special assembler, the object code when
dynamically loaded into Java is done for the Apple runtime, and then
all the wrong things happen. I believe those binaries were only
usable with Objective C.
