Even if it's not a real problem if the
author is aware of it and licenses the code contained in the document under
the GPL, the other direction -- not being able to put GPL code in a FDL
document seems quite limiting.
You can use small pieces of code, because that would be fair use.
I don't see much reason to want to use larger amounts.
In any case, it is a very hard job to design a good free documentation
license and a good free software license that are compatible. The
other free documentation licenses that people commonly use are also
incompatible with the GPL.
