Hey Doug;

Most likely there is something wrong with one or more of the Mandrake
packages. I sell Mandrake and it is goofy as of late in areas such as this.
Also for the arch-linux distro I package both hamlibs and xlog and I did not
have a problem with doing this at all like what you are seeing. I used the
(already) packaged expat-1.95.7, which does NOT supply a libexpat.so.1 per
say. (It supplies a /usr/lib/libexpat.so..0 -> Which is, as you might
suspect, a symlink to /usr/lib/libexpat.so.0.5.0.)

So.....I would suggest you make a symlink from the missing libexpat.so.1 to
what is actually extent from the installed libexpat package you already have
and see if that might work.

Something similar might have to be done for the hamlib issue as well.

I said earlier that these kind of things are starting to happen alot with
Mandrake, which is very sad. The good side of things, is that there are LOTS
of other good distros to choose from. (I use 6 different distros myself for
the six machines in my office.....hi hi, and among them is Mandrake, although
I am not sure for how much longer I will be doing that).

Oh yeah, one last thought; You ARE using mdk.rpms right ? Um, maybe this
should have been the very first question, as Mandrake has long since usually
needed rpms made just for it, and not those for suse or red hat/fedora rpms.
